Dosimetry Department
Tasks:
- Conducting measurements of doses received by patients during medical radiology procedures;
- Conducting control measurements of individual doses and forming relevant conclusions, prognoses, and analyses;
- Performing, at 5-year intervals, an assessment of the dose to the public from the medical application of ionising radiation;
- Developing a system for obtaining information on performance of medical radiology procedures;
- Obtaining data from national registers and databases on the medical application of ionising radiation, including the use of specific procedures;
- Conducting reviews of diagnostic reference levels;
- Drafting opinions on matters related to the possibility of occurrence of health impairments as a result of medical exposure;
- Providing substantive support to national consultants involved in investigating circumstances and causes of unintentional and accidental exposures;
- Participating in committees appointed to investigate circumstances and causes of unintentional and accidental exposures;
- Analysing circumstances and causes of dosimetry errors and accidents resulting from radiology equipment failure.
